New City Tales

The Architect as a urban curator

New City Tales

The Architect as a urban curator
Our future architecture designs narratives that support bottom-up, democratic practices.
File under

We believe that the future of architecture will be determined by the future of the architectural profession. In a context of economic decline and social uncertainty, in east Europe in particular, it seems urgent to re-establish the lost ties between the citizens and the city: architects should focus on creating new relations rather than new volumes. The architect we want to be operates like a curator, weaving a red thread through the context, using narratives as a tool of empowerment. The project of the curator becomes therefore a process in time that engages people’s ingenuous initiatives for the transformation of existing built stock: the imagery that a building carries along, becomes more important than its frozen form.
Like any storytelling, the tales of the city are not meant to report reality, but rather to inspire people to transform reality, to make it the place where they can ultimately fulfil their real desires
