Call for ideas 2018

Dear Architects…

The role of architects in a current society

Dear Architects…

The role of architects in a current society
We don’t know where we’re going if we don’t know where we’ve been.
File under

The project “Dear architects…” attempts to trigger a discussion about the role of an architect in the current society – how it is understood by architects themselves, but also other professionals researching on societal and environmental issues (social geographers, urban sociologists or anthropologists, political scientists, art historians and theoreticians, philosophers, artists, economists, politicians etc.). By addressing them, they are challenged to re-think the position of the profession of an architect, their way of work and the discourse of architecture.

The first phase of the project was realised in form of an exhibition, which took place in the Gallery of Architecture Brno in June 2017. The exhibition was accompanied by two moderated discussions, the contributions are published in an online reader. This year focus is on the ethics in architecture, the outputs will be presented at an exhibition in Prague and Brno, accompanied by a symposium, documentary and a publication.
