Porto, Portugal
murmuro is a small team based in Porto that thrives on collaboration and multidisciplinary work, understood not as a mean to reach fast consensus but rather an opportunity for dialogue, to exchange information in hopes of expanding a project brief. We also fell the need to explore other means of production as processes of research and critical thinking such as curatorial work. Our project Doze Casas has been selected for the Architecture Award Premis Fad 2016.

Time Less Architecture

When was the last time you had time for Architecture?

Time Less Architecture

When was the last time you had time for Architecture?
Architecture needs to claim back time and silence.
File under

We have come to a point where a superpower is run on social media, on 140 character sentences that can only incorporate sound bites and extreme concepts rather than any real content. Architecture is fast following this trend some call progress but we identify as unawareness. If before we had a shortage of information and that meant limited access to architecture publications leaving us starving for knowledge, today the fast, hollow and immediately gratifying illusion of information at the speed of a LIKE defines a new form of ignorance. Unfortunately, an image is now worth much more than words and often trumps real space. Architects need to demand silence and time to invest thinking architecture and mature their projects rather than marketing them. Architecture will not find answers to our society’s vital problems amongst white noise.
