Fostering structured knowledge about visual signs for a better informed Public Space planning and management.
The knowledge about public space user visual signs production will give the proper arguments to rescue the street, towards citizenship, pedestrians and a sustainable mobility model.

Visual sign production can be seen as a big gradient of manifestations (from involuntary to voluntary, such as in latrinalia, graffiti or street art). Many times contradictory, representing tensions of usage between owners and users. This tension release it's essential and part of vivid places. Architects and city lovers had during times alluded this dimension of creation, unfortunately too fragile to face the big gestures of urban planning or new architecture challenges.

We believe that a proper strategy for giving voice to this dimension of creation will be delivered through a close dynamic between academic publications, conferences and intervention based activities. Thus the path Urbancreativity research network is following since 2014. Better public spaces projects and management will be possible due to a closer relationship to the user needs.
