Terzo Giardino is a tool focused in creating new harmonies between nature, design and communities.
First made in Firenze, Terzo Giardino can be considered a method to bridge the past and the future of a place oriented toward an experimental approach to medium scale public design.
We propose to create a public garden as temporary intervention in abandoned or underused places which have been reconquered by nature.
This garden is made by subtraction, cutting out spontaneous vegetation to create walkables paths and liveable spaces.
The reversible procedure allows to “discover an unexpected urban wildness” making the experience of nature rules and their beauty into the urban environment.
The temporary public garden has to be intended as a pedagogic tool for local communities and designers to test potentiality of a place, appreciate possibilities in co-living between stable design and dynamic nature rules, open up a public discussion about unacknowledged resources.
