Othmane(BSc, MA, M.Arch) has high interest in architecture and engineering. In Venice, he collaborates with Yona Friedman for the 2017 Venice Biennale, enriching his compositional working processes and historical knowledge. He was prized with three different scholarships related to the work produced. In 2018 he moved in London for a strong interest in experimental architecture, where a collaboration between the AA Polar Lab and Diploma Unit 4 aims to explore architectural emergent condition.

One Etna North

A new Pole for Volcano Etna
Mount Etna and the volcanic area has been capturing people’s imagination since ancient times and has throughout history not only been about fire and fury but also a popular travel destination. The project aims to sustain local tourism, preserving climate and landscape.

  • Site-specific cases

Today, buildings are world’s largest polluting agent, accounting for around 40 per cent of global greenhouse gas emissions. While science, technology and regulatory frameworks develop at lightning speed, the design of buildings slowly evolves – even as the complexity of construction and performative requirements increases at an exponential rate. As we are painstakingly aware, there can be architecture without buildings but even more so there can be buildings with no architecture.
If the medium of architecture is building, then the project focuses on design experimentation arising from the negotiation and combination of emergent digital media and new material, design and production techniques, exploring volumetric, subtractive and projective geometries and stereotomy embracing thickness and novelty over surface and convention always challenging convention, tradition and a narrow definition of our profession.
