Loes Thijssen was born in The Netherlands (1990). She graduated with honours at the Delft University of Technology with her project ‘The Real-time City: life in a fully adaptable environment’, about a city on demand. The city based on services, discovering new technologies, evolutionary city structures, circular production methods and a new economy. Her work clearly shows an enthusiasm and experimentation for personalized, adaptive, and customized city and architectural structures.

A city on demand
Welcome to The Real-time City; a place where every citizen can create his own personal architecture in real-time
File under

Welcome to Real-time City, where every citizen can create his own, personal architecture in Real-time. Following this idea, it is a concept for a perfect fit over time. This new concept embraces the freedom of creativity by liberating people for strict constraints. Each citizen is free to explore and can be a designer. The Real-time City provides customization and personalization to every citizen. It is to be seen as an improvement towards the current building system and is adapting to the newest technology. It is a city of blooming and withering: The city is no longer based on ownership, but every citizen can ‘borrow’ space and materials as long as it is desired. The citizen can order any type of space he wants, at any place, whenever he wants. The on demand service creates a certain flexibility for the citizen to move, change and explore wherever he wants. The citizen is not anymore fixed to a certain place, in a standardized typology but is free to move and express his personality.
