From dismissed building to open spaces

Storytelling and tactical urbanism to suggest new forms of living abandoned spaces
A methodological approach to experiment new ideas and new images for the abandoned buildings.
File under
Type of project
  • Site-specific cases

Experimenting with new approaches through the creation of site-specific artistic and architectural projects to find new meanings for abandoned urban areas.
The temporary activation of abandoned places has in itself the concept of taking care of, exploring and experimenting with new uses, going beyond the functions of the past and creating new imagery.
The triggering of such experimentation leads to new relationships with the territory, conceiving these interventions as generative in social, relational and potential activators of new projects involving the community and all the dimensions of a city.
The generative and social value of this approach leads to a new idea of project: a temporary project that isn't self-conclusive, but generative of new perspectives of growth and comparison, an activating process of new potentialities. The experimentation has therefore the temporality, always in continuity with an organic idea and continuity thanks to the methodological approach developed.

OvestLab project (2016- today) | cultural-based urban regeneration project: mechanical workshop converted to Fabbrica Civica: a place with people and for people, for the construction of new imagery through choral actions, OvestLab, now the headquarters of the collective, has become the reference point for the community and the virtuous network that has developed in recent years. (ph. by Roberto Brancolini)

Elementare / Elementary (Periferico Festival 2018) | production of the Collective Amigdala of a continuous singing all night long. The project is about resistance and staying in one place: the creation of a temporary community that lives for one night together, a night vigil to claim the power of the community and the strength that this releases. The factory becomes a place to stay, sleep and wait for dawn together with the rest of the community. (ph. by Roberto Brancolini)

Decimo Meridiano / Tenth Meridian (Periferico Festival 2018) | temporary exhibition in an apartment resigned on 10 years of the Collective Artistic Amygdala. The apartment where the exhibition was set up is the same where the MOP project is now located. The exhibition has been set up to highlight and highlight every space in the apartment, elevating every aspect to an artistic element. (ph. by Roberto Brancolini)

Disobbedienza dell’acqua / Water disobedience (Periferico Festival 2017) | artistic production focused on 100 dreams of the inhabitants of the neighborhood, to claim the power of dreams and how much they cannot be bound by reality, creating new imagery. The space is redesigned by bottles of water with the dreams of the inhabitants immersed, giving visitors a way to walk freely. (ph. by Mario Carlini)

Lettere Anonime per un Camminatore / Anonymous Letters for a Walker (Periferico Festival 2016) |artistic production on the love of places: a solitary walk through the neighborhood while listening to a love letter that mixes personal memories with those of the inhabitants, at the end you will find who spoke the words of love of the letter heard on the walk. A disused place becomes the point of a newfound intimacy in an unexpected place. (ph. by Roberto Brancolini)
