Turning Buildings into Economies

Gamified Cohousing

Turning Buildings into Economies
We renovate old empty buildings into modern gamified cohousing and coworking economies
File under
Type of project
  • Systemic changes

We are a newly created company, with a hands on method based on the theoretical work of “Architectural Democracy”. It is applying it to its pilot project in renovating a 1905 year old school into a gamified cohousing and coworking economy.
Architecture must become an enabler of design and innovation instead of being a facilitator and a slave of the ROI (return over investment). Architects should not plan projects till its end, but plan the platform in which future changes might occur. It must focus on the two big problems that the construction industry is directly related to, the loneliness and the misuse of resources (empty buildings in China amount to 24% of the built environment).
We propose:
- Minimalistic renovation (affordable + identity)
- Mix Cohousing with coworking (increasing citizen’s ability to negotiate differences)
- Modular Design (allowing changes over time)
- Game Mechanics (creating an economy)
