Possible shapes

Possible shapes

Cognition of formal and spatial qualities of shape by exploring the tensions between reality and its representation.

Type of project
  • New alliances

In this Image-saturated world, the distinction between images and drawings has been blurring. So instead of treating architectural drawings as images and utilize them as ready-made entities and data, this project engages their formal and spatial qualities for the creation of architectural objects. In Architectural drawings, shapes become the indexical marking of multiple entities by ascribing different formal attributes, geometrical definitions, and spatial conditions. They belong to simultaneous objects and multiple coordinate systems, then what we see is always part of something or can become part of many things. This ambiguity lies within the transition between virtuality and the reality of the shapes; you know that something is there but you don’t know what it is, where exactly it is coming from, and what is going to be. Possible Shapes is questioning the tensions between reality and its representations and the manners in which how we manifest the real to the world.
