Strategy of urban transformation of Turkistan city
Rethink, reinvent and reload the most ancient city of Kazakhstan involving creative communities, using immense cultural heritage of Great Steppe and encouraging circular economy.

Transoxiana region, where Turkistan city lays, for centuries was one of the most densely-urbanized areas of Central Asia, Silk Way international trade and culture exchange corridor. The strategy has a mega-goal to explore arise and decline of this ancient urban civilization in order to understand circularity of urban issues, it consequences and interrelations with modern society.
Main objectives of urban transition of Turkistan are:
1) develop local economy,
2) empower of culture and creative industries,
3) recover nature, conserve heritage.
Broader impact of Turkistan urban transition could be replicated in integrated culture strategies for European and Asian cities and in reflection on issues and solutions of coexistence of nomad and urban civilization for sustainability of future generations.



Neighborhood of New City, the epicenter of urban transformation of Turkistan city and administrative center of the region.

Museum of Turkic languages, integration of traditions of Great Steppe and contemporary architecture.
