Basic impacts: The new housing standards question the existing conditions and provoke a critical look into the current city quality in Russia. The success of the development cannot solely depend on its connectivity to the urban transportation network alone, the project must also be able to generate activity within its limit in order to sustain a lively community. The project claims a maximum programmatic diversity within its perimeter while its “non-housing” areas are invested on cultural and public programs.
Specific impacts : Ecology: Russian territory is covered at 46% by forest. By defining Timber as a new standard for housing constructions, Russia would become in the next 10 years, the world leader of sustainable solutions for mass housing production. Urban rooms: The unpredictable city create multiple situation within dense urban development; each pocket is an opportunity for various number of programs depending on its location: a kiosk, a garden, a covered market, a playground.
