We are a team of young professionals active in landscape design. We share a three-year degree in architecture, obtained in different locations, and a specialized degree in landscape architecture (in the case of Martina and Lorenza) and in architectural design (for Mirko and Stefania). At the moment we work as freelancers in central and southern Italy but we often put ourselves to the test in competitions of ideas without geographical limits.

Notturno

Notturno

Notturno is a project that invites to reflect on the relationship between urban life and vegetation.

Notturno is a lush garden enclosed by walls, with a sciaphilous vegetation that recalls the image of a forest.

Its name evokes a moment in the day when it seems that animated beings become devoid of life but which is, instead, fundamental for the biological cycle of plants and, therefore, also for that of the human race.

It is a garden that shows that the association dark=absence of life is wrong and that the former is absolutely not an obstacle to the creation of green spaces, even of high aesthetic value.

Notturno wants to be a stimulus to green cities, even in the most complicated contexts, to generate a healthier and happier model of life, with adequate amounts of oxygen and fresh air but also of colours and scents.

Project plan with identification of the chosen plant species and diagrams showing the layers. The diagrams depict the various levels of design from the floor to the roof. They evoke the vegetal development of a forest.

Axonometry and project sections. The orange devices that come out of the openings represent a gimmick to perceive the scents of the plants but also, metaphorically, to better absorb the oxygen emitted by them. It is an emphasizing of an action that we perform without even realizing it and that unites us with all other living beings and whose input role is played by plants.

Project Manifesto.
“Notturno is in the damp and dark alleys, in the courtyards, in the spaces of no one, in the urban clippings trampled and never inhabited. Notturno is everywhere and breathes.”

The project realized seen from the outside.

An internal view of the project.
