Stockholm, Sweden / Tallinn, Estonia, Estonia
Towards Atmospheric Care is a long-term collaboration between researcher in ecology, photography & new media Agata Marzecova and visual artist Hanna Husberg that explores air as a naturalcultural phenomenon situated in the nexus of media, science and technological mediation through artistic-scientific investigation of situated case studies. In addition to artistic and academic outcomes, we have developed postdisciplinary pedagogic approaches (workshops; Urban Ethnography course at EKA, Tallinn).

Sensing landscapes

A co-learning workshop on care and data fantasies

Sensing landscapes

A co-learning workshop on care and data fantasies
We propose a co-learning workshop which collectively and critically examines urban sensing landscapes.

Type of project
  • Site-specific cases

Our intention is to bring together practitioners and researchers in art, architecture, ecology & critical studies to through field work, interviews and practices of sharing and co-learning reflect upon a near future in which the emergent 5G technoecology, using trillions of antennas emitting beams of radiation, will connect not just people, but the whole world contributing to a novel augmented electromagnetic environment. Highlighting how science, technology and infrastructures allow for apprehending and sensing the environment in new ways, we suggest productive alliances between scientists, critical spatial practice and the public are central for future architecture and urbanism. Asking: How can we care for the communicative connection of whole landscapes, which are inaccessible to direct experience, yet structure our daily lives? our aim is to radically and collectively experiment with thought and practice that position sensing landscapes as a shared and in(ter)disciplinary concern.

The Air group at the arts & science field laboratory Field_Notes_Heavens (2019) hosted by Towards Atmospheric Care.

Blogpost connected to fieldwork at Ars Bioarctica Residency (2018), Kilpisjärvi.

From Aurora to Geospace (2020), installation at Royal Art Institution Stockholm.

From Aurora to Geospace (2020) two-channel video essay, 22 min.

Public Discussion, From Aurora to Geospace (2020), Royal Art Institution Stockholm.
