Speculative future of the World Trade Center Tower

Fieldstation: Brussels

Speculative future of the World Trade Center Tower
A narrative exploration of possible futures of a nearly abandoned World Trade Center Tower.

Type of project
  • New alliances

A narrative exploration of possible futures of a nearly abandoned World Trade Center Tower. With the contemporary conditions and trends changing so fast that we can no longer make any valid predictions, so will the Tower’s structure and the infostructure transform, reform and adapt.

Project was focused on issue of shifting technological conditions. With our contemporary environment becoming mediated through digital technologies and borders between virtuality and materiality slowly dissolving, architecture as a discipline has yet to adapt to be able to operate in these changing conditions. An exploration of a decaying Tower in the very heart of Brussels is an experiment showing a speculative future of a building extrapolated from the possibilities of emerging technologies.

There is no city, there is only density.
