Moving Places

Flexibility as an attitude, architecture as a tool.

Moving Places

Flexibility as an attitude, architecture as a tool.
Transformation from contemporary to smart city is an important opportunity to design new ways to develop the territory.

MOVING PLACES describes the challenge in which development is based on a combination of innovation and creativity, starting with a solid tradition of entrepreneurship and planning. Contemporary cities are witnessing continuous, deep and sudden changes affecting every facet of urban life and demand flexible answers. They must be able to continuously remodel themselves and constantly rediscover a new ability to adapt themselves. We took OFFICINE GRANDI MOTORI in Torino, Italy as an example of compound realised by Officine Michele Ansaldi and afterwards by FIAT. The main goal of our project is the formation of a new “portion of the city”, whose feasibility is based on the planning of an appropriate blend of functions located in buildings, in part new and in part recovered, able to bear witness to and reinterpret the previous uses and the quality of the industrial architecture.
