C3 is a platform for research and exploration of urban trends. It combines the creative efforts of artists and researchers engaging in the analysis of neighborhoods. Projects provide urban areas with new cultural potential while simultaneously developing multicultural diversity and the foundation for the emergence of a new cultural collectivity, which thus becomes available to users outside the privileged social classes.

Social Modular System

SMS
Modular system based on circular bioeconomic to restore abandoned spaces in urban and rural areas.

Type of project
  • Site-specific cases

The SMS offers tools (technologies and knowledge) based on circular bioeconomics whose main objective is to restore abandoned rural and urban areas. The newly acquired living capacities would thus significantly contribute to addressing the housing problem of vulnerable groups. To achieve this, SMS will provide the necessary support platform that can be deployed at the site of the renovation of a particular derelict property. This platform consists of a custom modular living structure, backed by various high and low-tech solutions. SMS will also focus on delivering an alternative model of lifestyle which is closely connected with the living conditions depending on the context and needs. The process will consequently affect the understanding of architecture, social aspect, mobility, climate change, education, use of resources and other aspects of daily life. Because of its modularity can be implemented as a temporary use.

The village of Sokoliči is an Istrian village, just half an hour away from the city of Koper. The property is an abandoned farm which was more than 80 years ago one of the most active and productive in this area. We will start the pilot project on this location and expend it via urban areas later.

The polygon is an educational path where visitors come to learn about different solutions for environmental change. Each point will address a problem of today's life and give an alternative solution to it. For example how much drinkable water we use just for flushing toilets.

Housing module Supporting system is a system of different low and hi-tech solutions for supplying the housing module with the most important elements like water, electricity, food, heating. All that is controlled by a central controlling system that optimizes energy use.

The choice of technological solutions and other equipment is determined by the specific characteristics of the location and needs. All elements are connected to each other in order to preserve energy through recycle and reuse processes.

The new concept, a modular and mobile home, respects the environment and adapts to the different needs of users. Effective construction system based on new technologies includes also the use of natural materials.
