Self Sufficient Structures

Utilizing city waste to build structure that generates energy for itself and surrounding area.

Self Sufficient Structures

Utilizing city waste to build structure that generates energy for itself and surrounding area.
Proposed to be built from the city waste to generate its own energy reducing carbon footprint.
File under

Energy production and use while supporting human system often triggers chain of negative environmental impacts that includes pollution and alteration of land & water from extraction process, loss of ecosystem, power generation and increased concentration of air pollutant including green house gasses. The linear nature of this urban energy flow increases the vulnerability of cities, dependent on the hinterlands for the supply and disposal of material pose one of the largest challenges to sustainability. This highlights the importance of understanding inflow and outflow of material (urban metabolism) within city and utilizing its city waste for designing/constructing environmentally responsible spaces that takes your occupants to new sense of places that arouses curiosity, creativity and comfort at right time. The entire proposal awakens human being for utilizing its city waste for creating public places and harvesting clean energy for itself without affecting its environment

The basic form of the ALGEN Bus stop, proposed is derived from the network of city waste generated by the Delhi. The prototype is the combination of solar panel, algae tubes structure and piezoelectric panels proposed to be build from city waste along with residential grey water and algae to produce clean energy. The electricity harvested is then stored in heavy duty batteries which are then utilized to power the ALGEN bus stop and the street lights reducing pollution by 70-80 percent.

The basic form of Ahorra Agua proposed is derived from the concept of "hands saving droplet of water". It is the reminder to people “Save water, the future is in your hands”. It is the combination of solar power concentrator, humidity condenser and piezoelectric paneled pathways. It is proposed to be made from city waste of California to produce clean water & energy reducing carbon footprint by 70-80 percent.

Form of the hostel is derived from coat of arms of Tanzania where either side wings of building appears to be saving African black wood that is proposed to be placed in the central courtyard . The proposal is the combination of rammed earth architecture, solar panels, agritecture and rain water harvesting that produces clean energy and food for its habitants using it city waste reducing pollution by 75-80 percent.
