Open Call: CAFx Summer School 2017
After the great success of Summer School in Aarhus, Copenhagen Architecture Festival is under the title "Landscape as Character" hosting another film summer camp in Lemvig, Denmark this August. Deadline for applications is 1 June 2017.
Taking place from 19 to 26 August 2017 the summer school will focus on the temporal nature and character of the Danish landscape. With reference to the 17 UN goals for a better world, it will focus on the future and pastel colours of the magnificent sceneries that make up Western Jutland. Its landscape was generated 10,000 years ago by huge glaciers of the last ice age and is now being transformed by the rising sea levels generated by climate change and various hyper objects.
Mentors of this year's edition are renowned filmmaker Johann Lurf (AT), architect and filmmaker Morten Meldgaard (DK) and veteran architect and educator Peter Henning Jørgensen (DK). Through the medium of film, they will work with students in the small fishing town of Lemvig, where they will guide the students in their investigation of the town's landscape and seascape.
Participants will work in groups with film, photography, installation, drawings, maps, and found objects. The final results will be publicly screened to a wider audience in Lemvig. The participation fee is 4000 DKK per person and includes tuition fees, accommodation and full board.
The CAFx summer school is open to students and professionals from architecture, urban planning, landscape desgin, film and other individuals interested in exploring new interdisciplinary environments. Apply by submitting one page motivational letter and a short portfolio / showreel (via file sharing link), which will form the basis for the selection. The number of participants is limited.
The deadline for applications is 15 June 2017!
