TALK: The Theatres of Culture

Event10 Jul 2017

On 14 July at 19.30 at MAXXI, Rome (Piazza del MAXXi) emerging architects will discuss the "ephemeral" along with four Italian studios, addressing the possibility of resorting to the “wonderful urban" in the strategies for enhancing the cultural economies of the city.

The participants were invited to design five temporary installations inspired by the Central Park of the Estate Romana and ideally place them next to five abandoned Roman cinemas, chosen as a symbol of declining cultural and architectural quality. More on the exhibition.

The talk will present the five installations for a new Estate Romana. Introduced and moderated by Pippo Ciorra, curator of the project, the five practices will debate with the Italian studios La Macchinana Studio, Supervoid, WAREHOUSE Architecture and Fosbury Architecture and with Luca Galofaro who has consulted on the project and who in September at the First Seoul Architecture Biennale will present the exhibition of the projects together with historical documentation regarding the Estate Romana and the Parco Centrale from the 1970s.
