After finishing his studies in 2010, Ignacio Gias has worked in multiple architecture studios worldwide, covering different cultural backgrounds and approaches to Architecture. Ignacio Gias decided to begin his own architecture practice in 2014. Nacho Gias it is a young and emerging architecture practice willing to produce its own architectural language and develop new projects and solutions for societies’ needs.

Preserving existing heritage, creating new jobs in rural environments or APPs utilization for exploring architecture.
Create an infrastructure able to make profitable hórreos preservation. The use of trusts flows that Camino de Santiago provides consistently it is a key strategy for this goal. By the creation of an APP, backpackers would localize hórreos and overnight on them for a symbolic price.

Northern Spanish regions have traditionally been agricultural areas where each family used to take care of their fields. The hórreo was the answer to a particular issue: how to keep the corn dry and safe from rodents. During the XX century, the agriculture productive systems suffer a deep revolution and the hórreos are totally abandoned. Young people are leaving the countryside to improve their life in big cities. Social structures remain fixed for the past and new ideas to reinvent life style are mandatory. I do think that this is not just a project else, it aims to become a reference for economical reactivation of the cultural and natural environment. Natural, Economical and Cultural flows cooperate among them in this proposal. But far away from being a just and useful strategy, Walk & Hórreo approaches to concepts as spellbound or magic. I would like to picture how the European future should be like, in which nature and culture play a key role by becoming prosperity creators.
