Urban Swirl

An alternative design conceptualisation for compact cities

Urban Swirl

An alternative design conceptualisation for compact cities
A Generative design approach using digital tools for planning compact cities.

Type of project
  • New alliances

As an alternative approach to conventional design process, the proposal explores generative design process for designing architecture and urban systems in compact cities. The project challenges the largely static traditional urban designing and planning, and develops dynamic urban forms that serve as integrated urban systems in cities. The final output is not conceived merely as a tool-based parametric urban planning and design, but as a creative process-laden approach to futuristic city design. Architects and Urban Planners play an important role in shaping cities and its development, and there is a need for innovative approaches to tackle and address the impending challenges of urban futures. This proposal is a timely attempt to urban form-finding, defining future city designing that organically evolves and offer opportunities for adaptability and change enabling progressive transformation in cities.
