Eurotopia

infrastructures for the european landscape of political caretaking

Eurotopia

infrastructures for the european landscape of political caretaking
Reading infrastructure as a political re:presentator for enabling civic participation in a supranational world.
File under
Type of project
  • Systemic changes

The ongoing project addresses the question how the build environment and especially representational architecture is influencing political systems and its processes. Its goal is to uncover the interrelations between architecture, its connecting infrastructure and the political self-understanding expressed both through symbols as well as performance.

The term of re:presentation becomes crucial within this analysis as it is hinting both on the symbols that are conveyed through architecture as well as the democratic principle of representing the citizen through the political performance within democratic societies.

Based on the in depth research of representational architecture of the European Union, the project wants to address the question how infrastructure as a re:presentation of interconnectedness can become an enabler for a European public to take part within political discussions, facilitating the tools to take care of their own city and region.
