Type of project
  • Systemic changes

With the rapid disruption of the education industry through technology will school buildings be needed in 10 or 30 years?
Some will be transferred into spaces to gather practical skills rather than theoretical knowledge, while others might become obsolete altogether, including classroom space in it’s 20th century understanding.

Thus it is important to consider alternative uses for the school buildings when developing a masterplan for a neighborhood to keep it alive as well as to take into account non-school requirements when creating new school buildings to keep reconstruction costs to a minimum.

In 10-30 years the current school buildings could become a co-working space, a hotel, a hospital, a museum, a sports or cultural center, etc.

So a necessary part of modern engineering and construction decisions should be to provide solutions “for growth”.
