Capriccios

Is it appropriate to refer to a Utopia as the place where there is no lust for space? Where there is no fear of the undoing, the destruction, the hybridization of the existing landscape and its definition? Is it possible for a Utopia to be a new kind of Capriccio, like the ones of the 17th century, but modeled by everyday people and enhanced by contemporary influences? A quasi object becomes the mediator between different kind of realities and environments. The architecture practice becomes a program that consists of rules and algorithms, aiming to the composition of alternative forms. Hybrid ones, fragments' collages of different epochs, materials and meanings. Compositions of buildings, archeological ruins, monuments and different kinds of architectural elements. The urban landscape transformation is seen through the users' eyes with virtual and augmented reality practices. The city becomes an infinite canvas that confuses the boundaries between meatspace and cyberspace.

Random scanned figures and one of their possible hybrid-compositions.

Where Meatspace meets Cyberspace. The user is given the ability to experiment digitally upon preexisting spaces, landscapes and change the environment by following his preferences, and using every element and figure surrounding him. The existing data is scanned and used with different ways in order to compose a personal utopia, while maintaining the elements that characterize the respective site.

Anyone can share his experimental, virtual Capriccios or modify the ones of other users, getting involved in a collective process. He participates in an online platform of the tomorrow's synthesis by using fragments of the past and present.
