"Planned Ruins" proposes a thought experiment: consider a built environment fundamentally transformed by new processes of production and fabrication. 3D-printed structures, bio-fabricated designs, and new materials are now the standard. Now consider the trash of this new world—the bizarre and unworkable glitches, the unintentional leftovers of production—what Paul Virilio would call the "accidents" of future architecture. What would these look like, and most importantly, what do they mean to us today?
