The reason why the cultural cooperative cosa.cz was founded was that its creators wanted to offer an alternative to the system of independent architectural tradesmen. It represents a profit-making organisation based on the principles of economic democracy. There are three participants in the cultural cooperative and they would like to expand in the future and inspire the foundation of further similar organisations. They keep disputing whether they are the first cultural cooperative in the Czech Republic.

A few years ago, they thought they would found an association – a “non-profit” organisation. But then, they found out that they need to found a “profit” one. They were interested in co-ops, but it took a long time until they found out that they can and want to found a co-op. The co-op wanted to engage in co-op education, but to enter the co-op association you need to be in a co-op union. The cosa.cz co-op properly employed Barbora and Market. The co-op survived its second year.
