What is our role as architects to push a community to change their individual actions to community?

  • Systemic changes

Humans have proved their plasticity to adjust to the environment. Modern man alters himself and habitat. Spontaneous actions are informal processes that have modified the urban configuration of cities and are related to economic, political and social changes. After communism, migration in urban areas was massive. People transformed their buildings according to their needs, leading to the “personalization” of the structures. Until today, each person changes the common space for functional reasons and to create his perfect realm, a utopic place, where the functional needs are met and his ego is satisfied. But each utopia makes its faults… Creating the utopic world through individual actions has a damaging effect on urban patterns and society. Individuality can become the main cause of social tension, leading to conflicts and disputes between habitats. It might increase the urge to "personalize" their spaces. The image of the city and the unifying architectural language are missing.
