Call for ideas 2019
Parallel
Parallel
- New alliances
Parallel aims to alter mentalities around place, space, history – and crucially: possibility.
What discourses / narratives constrain us? What limits (seen, unseen, overlooked) determine our interactions with the city? How does the ‘familiar’ conceal histories and possibilities?
How can a re-examination of narratives enable new perspectives on the self and the city?
How can play, mystique and fiction interact with ‘real’ identities of our selves and our cities?
Half immersive theatre, half investigative tour of buildings, streets and history, it is an adaptable but place-centric ‘play.’
Urban identity is contested and evolving. Its future is the future of architecture. Is the urban merely a concentration of people, process and transactions? Or is it even more than the (already extensive) sum of its parts?
After a sold out run at the 2018 London Festival of Architecture, Parallel will be returning in 2019. We'd like to take it to more places.
