In the fall of 2018 we designed and curated an exhibition titled the Unbuilt House. The exhibition was a collection of models of unrealized projects by emerging architecture studios in Oslo. This exhibition was further developed as part of the Oslo Architecture Triennale in 2019.

The objective is to present the work architects do which is never seen and to show the importance of unbuilt work as a part of an architect’s professional development. Unbuilt projects can sometimes be even more influential than built projects because of their uncompromising purity and single mindedness.

For the Future Architecture Platform we would like to expand and develop this simple concept, creating a larger more permanent archive of unbuilt architecture. However instead of just presenting existing models we would like to reflect more deeply on the nature and importance of unbuilt work, specifically related to emerging practices. We plan to do this through an exhibition and analytical texts.
