Childrens' Urban School Svidomi

14-modules course of urbanism for schoolchildren

Childrens' Urban School Svidomi

14-modules course of urbanism for schoolchildren
Future Architecture strictly depends on future urban environment, Future architecture definitely will become younger, and my idea is to encourage people to research, participate and design the city from the school age.

Children’s urban school Svidomi is the 14-modules course that focuses on urban studies, urban planning, city design, participation and urban policy making. This is a science-art project for schoolchildren of 12-17 years old.

Svidomi urban school launched in Summer of 2016. Since then 24 schoolchildren passed 3 test modules of the program. In 2017 Svidomi school starts a full 14-modules course in Kyiv.

Idea of urbanism-focused education influences future of cities and architecture in them through preliminary early-age cognition of processes performing in cities, cause and effect relationships, city data systems, societies and communities in cities by youngsters.

On local level the school fosters agents of changes – alumni of urban school, who should became active citizens, encouraged for changes of urban environment through application of urbanism and architecture. The global-scale influence of this school helps to make cities better via engagement of young generation.
