THE MOBILE ROSE GARDEN FOR THE (OVER)DESIGNED SPACE

THE MOBILE ROSE GARDEN FOR THE (OVER)DESIGNED SPACE

Participatory design implemented in a form of a mobile garden.

A sign of recent times is the growing awareness that all citizens should co-decide on public processes. The typical of modernity trust in specialists ends. The previous model, when THEY developed their concepts in the comfort of laboratories to later implement them, hiding behind the KNOWLEDGE authority, is now obsolete. We discovered that results of their actions lead US to a CATASTROPHE.

This state of affairs also applies to the way in which we used to design cities. Let residents participate in this activity! I would like to draw attention to a new type of practice, which is participatory design: the future users participate as co-designers in the design process. This way of working, or actually cooperation, allows equalization of power relations and is guided by such values as: democratic practices, locally based action, mutual learning tools and techniques, and alternative visions about technology.

My text is a proposal of an imaginary action carried out on a micro scale.
