Plain in Sight yet Out of Mind
Plain in Sight yet Out of Mind
- Systemic changes
Streets of North Kensington have once again become the slum of London. It is a disgusting neighbourhood overloaded with sensual abhorrence. In every housing block there are unbearable amounts of noise, and stench of drugs and excrement reek around every corner. We walk the neighbourhood every night and map every sensuous input. Housing in Kensington is not a healthy residence. Council is disinterested in making a better condition- and any result of maintenance will be destroyed by the antisocial behaviour.
This project explores architectural and urban environments in North Kensington. Site specificity is of importance; based on first-hand observations and experiences, we are critical towards both the council and the criminals for the state that this neighbourhood is now in. With this data, we want to challenge contemporary ideas on urban residence, find an architectural way to reduce filth- both architectural and societal, and to propose a future for the remains of Grenfell tower.
