A proposal for a themed circular path along its shoreline
A themed circular path along the shoreline of the lost Kamnik Lake, which is mentioned in stories of legendary folklore of Kamnik area is proposed.

A themed circular path along the shoreline of the lost Kamnik Lake is proposed, which is mentioned in stories of legendary folklore of Kamnik area. This lake supposedly covered the area of the old town centre of Kamnik and had drained in a sudden disaster. The proposed architectural idea is a response to the folklore associated with this legends. The purpose of the idea is to provoke a creative public debate on how immaterial cultural heritage of the local community could be permanently expressed in physical space and how to use the opportunities offered by rich folklore to enrich physical space with a new themed and recreational circular path, which reveals new perspectives on the town and its history. With the development of the idea, a series of Workshops would be performed with students of creative sector, experts from various fields, municipality representatives and locals to further develop the ideas and design Selected Points of Interest on the path.

Folk Tale mentions the Height of the Lake surface to be under the Small Castle hill and Church of Saint George in Nevlje, where a pier for boats was supposed to be. This corresponds approximately to the Height 388 - 389 m above Sea Level. Based on this a Terrain Heights were aquired from LIDAR data. The level of 389 - 390 m where the Shore of the Lake was supposed to be was checked in person through the whole area.

Along the Path on Sites of special Importance a Point of interest Station would be designed. In the proposal 16 such locations were already identified that could be arranged with site-specific design proposals for relaxation and historical evidence Presentation of Lake existence (Geological Findings; Folk and People stories ...), Special geomorphical situations, historical data ...)

New pedestrian roped bridge connecting the Small castle with the Old Castle Hill
In the place when once the lake was closed by a physical barrier between the two hills, with castles on each, and has poured out in a disaster, a New rope Bridge is proposed. This would establish a pedestrian link from the old City centre to the Old Castle hill which is a popular hiking destination with 20 minutes walk. Currently it is not easily accessible due to the River and a heavy traffic Road.

Folk Tradition and old Stories say that once there was a lake north to the City of Kamnik. It is said the lake suddenly disappeared following a natural disaster. Even the great slovenian natural historian of 17th Century Janez Vajkard Valvasor mentions this. Many artists, writers and poets were and still are inspired by this topic. New research is still being done which uncovers bits of new clues about the possibility of the lake existence.

During the Kamfest 2009 Art and Music Festival a group of young architects and designers made their Urban Installations in the City Centre based the Legend of the Kamnik Lake. Author of the Idea proposal was one of the leading figures of Skupina Štajn Installation in 2009.
