Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Reflecting on the sustainability and regeneration of worldwide architecture and the good quality design accessibility has brought jakub cigler architekti, a.s., to found unlimitedJCA, a pro-bono and experimental department of the studio, considering that the art, architecture and the design promote development and balance. Therefore we joined forces with local socio-cultural visionaries as the Collectif JUMP to achieve our common goals.

a broader program to promote creativity, community links, environment and urban reserves regeneration
File under
Type of project
  • Site-specific cases

The Pocket Park, a series of multidisciplinary workshops about shared spaces “with the people for the people”, was initiated to unite people from the community in order to rethink a public space neglected and disadvantaged by seasonal floods. It is a pilot project for a broader program to promote creativity, community links, environment and regeneration of urban reserves in future.
Within the first phase of multidisciplinary workshops about shared spaces local people can explore, learn and experience creativity as a city-constructive tool. The second phase consists of a construction of the prototypes of the proposals designed during the workshops which brings to reinforce the common trust.
This challenge is not a singular case. There are many other spots in Ouagadougou facing the same problem, or worse. This brings the project to have local impact while giving a physical example and encouraging the global solution in future!
