The Care Water Closet (CWC)

Proposing new senses of care normalities... Inviting the 'normal human' to practice accountability of one's own sh*t literally and metaphorically...

The Care Water Closet (CWC)

Proposing new senses of care normalities... Inviting the 'normal human' to practice accountability of one's own sh*t literally and metaphorically...
The CWC is a future toilet scenario involving a water recycling system, care tools and care agents.

In times of care crisis, when everything is about efficiency and speed, where humans undergo increasing pressure, what are spaces that could be activated as landscapes of care?

In times of stress humans often regress.. to TOILETS !
For this project I choose the toilet space and the normativity of human behaviour as starting research points. Toilets have spatial-psychological values that are unhighlighted for years. The CWC gets rid of the flush system and recycles the grey domestic water using solar energy. From the urine fertilisers are extracted. It is also mobilised with self care tools such as a breathing device and a care clock. To stop care from being personal, the care agents are part of the CWC scenario too.

The CWC speculative technological scenario activates a mundane daily space as an entity of self, communal and water care. On a macro level, it provides solutions for the toilet problems in rural areas because it is run by solar energy.

Here are the care agents; Bubbly and Ferti. Bubbly wears its water bubble, drinks and shares the recycled water from the CWC. Ferti uses the new hand tools to fertilise using the fertilisers from the CWC.

This is the care agent Pupazzo. Pupazzo invades unusual stages in the city inviting others for some entertainment using the goggles, it also performs and echos sound with its inflatable body.
