stadtstattstrand - The creative use of public spaces

Renegotiating policy tools for the urban commons
Lets work together on future policy tools to foster the urban commons through Research and Design.
File under

Civic engagement, placemaking and informal urbanism has become an important part of our modern cities. Although some years ago many governments still perceived informal practices as a revolutionary act, nowadays they embrace creativity and unconventional approaches in the use of public spaces. Urban Commons are shaping our neighbourhoods, encourage active citizenship and help building the so-called resilient city. Despite the awareness of the positive results of civic engagement is well known, many groups still struggle in implementing their ideas due to legal restrictions. In order to develop a solid ground for future development we are trying to develop cooperative formats between the local authorities and active citizens for the non commercial use of our public spaces by experimenting with different approaches. Our focus is the creative use of public spaces such as sidewalks, plazas and parks.
