THE WOMAN´S CRAFT VILLAGE
THE WOMAN´S CRAFT VILLAGE
- Systemic changes
The project is an interrogation of the 4th Industrial revolution, who it includes and who has access to it.
We must question what we legitimize as technological. The same systems of legitimacy drive the systems of domination that render women-led design low skilled craft.
A systemic approach to fabrication allows for WOMAN-ROBOT collaboration. The women access the technical skills needed to further their systems of construction & craft. This gives potential for community-based research developing contextual vernacular architecture. Computation and parametric methods also learn from women led craft, creating feedback systems of learning and improving by the women & technical tools.
This is ongoing research involving learning about digital tools in XR and investigating how rural communities interact with them. By highlighting the way women build in rural Kenya there can be an intersection between computational methods of design, fabrication and the women-led craft.
