When space meets desire
When space meets desire
- New alliances
In 2007 I founded Effetto Larsen, a company based in Milan, Italy. We make site-specific and participatory projects at international level, involving the citizens in their development.
We grasped a possibility: contemporary art can create spaces that respond to human needs. Whether they are aggregation, sharing, rituality, belonging, these are fundamental elements for human communities, and often neglected. As artists we can choose to take responsibility, which is based on creating the conditions for authentic, human listening.
There projects have a strong link with architecture: imagining and creating spaces, assigning them a function, sharing them. I have also been asked to collaborate to imagine new uses for abandoned spaces, which could become natural locations for socially useful activities. By combining the point of view of participatory art with that of architects, we can review the structure of society starting from its most necessary and forgotten functions.
