Re-Assembled City

Emerging Patterns of Cohabitation
Informal city grow presented as a guide for future formal user.
File under

As typologies in cities mutate and change according to shifting patterns of cohabitation, informal planning clashes with the formal, latter being too rigid to react to quickly-changing lifestyles of citizens. The demand for quality of life, comfort, efficiency, safety and proximity to the city makes informal, organic, and unregulated building activity in the suburbs so significant that it would be a missed opportunity not to try to learn from these forces of anarchy prevailing over the official system. The (Re)Assembled City is a projective exploration, an innovative model that offers an integrated approach to housing and planning policies. Even though, it is based on a collection of specific case-studies in Moscow suburbs the methodology of the research is, to a large extend, applicable worldwide.
