Mind Stretching Homes
Mind Stretching Homes
- Systemic changes
We face global concerns that are directly related to a main architectural pilar of society: an abysmal demand for up-to-date housing for a world population increasing in number, a seemingly infinite economy that should obey the climate crisis and brash administrations that don't respond with territorial strategies to demographic migrations.
Housing has a huge responsibility in relation to our consumption, habits and progress as individuals. During the last decades our reality has been subject to acceleration by technological advances, a spiral of volatility that prevails today, defined as liquid modernity by Z. Bauman. A house can no longer be formed by defined spaces from modernity that generate a user's manual; the inhabitant shall have will & power over the dwelling's democratic deconstructed ''generic'' spaces creating stimulus, physical and mental growth. Why would we continue to design the same houses if who lives in them, how they live and the city they live in have changed?
