Apostrophe

Apostrophe

Apostrophe is a research-based project that revolves around the notion of ‘hybrid habitat’ - a domain of interaction between subjects, objects and settings- and looks into the processes that allow for the production, materialization and spatial experience of its malleable reality.

Apostrophe, focuses on the concept of the zoom room as the symbolic externalisation of what we define as hybrid habitat, i.e an ever-evolving virtual domain for human life and interaction in which spaces and bodies are intertwined through mediated realities. Having recently completed a workshop with Edit Kaldor on the concept of the virtual workspace, our scope is to extend our focus on the materialisation of a reality where our devices have already become part of our identities. We are particularly interested in the process that allows for the production of this space of interaction as well as the spontaneous or performative responses towards our shared protocols and procedures. Experimenting with the architecture of the systems that allow for the ‘hybrid habitat’ to emerge, in Apostrophe we instigate the possible material expressions of a future habitat, where spatial and temporal displacement articulate our continuous presence.
