Unfortunately or Fortunately we do not live in an empty space , or in an environment where everything we could see is new. Old buildings and architecture is what we still keep as a heritage from the past, as a memory , as a relic , as something to learn, to be inspired, because heritage is part of our identity.
What about today ? Are we protecting our heritage ? Or are we forgetting or identity? Do we care about history ? Or the ego of the architect is changing the heritage? What will happen to our cities hundreds years from now?
Many of this questions can be answered very quickly. We are changing our identity ! There will be no more past , just future...But isn't it the best if we connect future architecture with the old architecture. There is always a bridge which connects them. We can't hide the past, but we must embrace it.
Without memory, there is no culture. Without memory, there would be no civilization, no society, no future.
Elie Wiesel
