Domestic boundaries 2.0
Domestic boundaries 2.0
- Systemic changes
In the contemporary era, changes in the family structure, work organization, technology, gender, society and communication are reflected in a new urban revolution that combines the domestic environment with the city. The dualities of the public/private, exterior/interior, work/leisure, man/woman, day/night, house/city are now dissolving.
Domestic boundaries 2.0 is an installation that aims to investigate how architecture must understand its context to better respond to contemporary changing needs.
Through the insertion domestic devices within a public space it is shown how the concept of domesticity is now expanding over its traditional boundaries, highlighting the common of having a domestic environment into a public one. Furthermore, with the use of VR devices embedded within the installations the project critically investigate the role of technology in the definition of our space-time limits taking users into new immersive places and merging the virtual and the material contexts.
