The Empty Square
Call for ideas 2021
The Empty Square
The Empty Square
- Systemic changes
The Empty Square was established in November 2020 on the conviction that in the process of building cities and communities we need a new holistic approach, reestablishing lost balances and seeking new coherence. The platform will connect learnings, ideas, and perspectives across borders and sectors.
The impact on future architecture will be felt in the social and caring fabric of communities, towns, and cities. It will lead to an increased understanding of human qualities and needs. It will provide an ongoing qualification of the foundations and frameworks supporting the architectural and urban practice. Finally, it will place architecture in the center of a new structuring language bridging economic, social, cultural, spiritual, environmental, and aesthetic challenges, only accelerated by the pandemic.
Today, one month after launch we have visitors from 29 countries and have been appointed a Best Practice by the European Commission’s Intelligent Cities Program.
