Curating Portugal's Architecture
Curating Portugal's Architecture

Exhibitions are, by no means, innocent. The act of selecting and presenting certain architectural works in a given situation is backgrounded by ideologies, hidden political agendas and others non-explored circumstances. This project aim to study and analyse the exhibitions that represented the Portuguese architecture ate the Venice Architecture Biennale from a curatorial perspective - which means it's not merely the objects that matters, but also and foremost the histories behind the exhibitions.
It is unquestionably an extensive research, but one that is believed to be a crucial chapter in the development of curatorial practices in Portugal. The methods applied are: in-depth bibliographical research; interviews with curators and other important professionals (producers, architects) and a symposium to debate the subject with a wider audience. The result will consist in an online archive, composed by the collected material and critical reviews from different invited authors.

Poster of the symposium, realised in Abril 2016.

Second table during the symposium, which reunited the curators of the Portuguese exhibitions in Venice Architecture Biennale.

First table during the symposium, which reunited the curators of the Portuguese exhibitions in Venice Architecture Biennale.

Public debate during the symposium, which reunited the curators of the Portuguese exhibitions in Venice Architecture Biennale.
