Helloeverything - is an international design studio cofounded in 2013 by Austin Smith, The work emerges in the interstitial opportunities of the standard to proliferate the spatial agency of people, objects, and relations of expanded ecological communities. Through design, we expand, break, and challenge the functions and effects of the everyday, innovating through convention to achieve a non-standard operative praxis. Helloeverything is NON - STOP.

Haunted House

Correspondence after Climate Control
Haunted House explores environmental attendance and ecological kinship through a detournement of the smart home.

Modern climate control makes us feel as though we have done just that... seized control of the climate. The mythology of total control for the sake of comfort is simultaneously a negation for us to attend, and care about local ecology. Haunted House explores how existing spatial technologies like the Internet of Things, might be reprogrammed, not in a logic of service provision, nor accelerated consumption, but rather towards greater contextual ecological awareness, kinship, and correspondence with more than human worlds. Smart homes, and the expansive field of wireless sensor technologies they're built on can do more than automate blinds and harvest user data. How might our habitats be embedded with a greater sensitivity to solar, meteorological, seasonal, celestial, migratory information etc? The intent is to derivé domestic IoT in order to "haunt" homes with a more-than-human presence, we for so long denied existed. Haunted house may be an installation, essay, or workshop.

An example data log of a haunted home. Environmental parameters adjust, constrain, and modify basic elements of spatial tectonics.
