Who is the Julius Caesar of our time to whom honor we shall erect monuments ?
File under

It is no longer correct to say that the Internet has no form, it is the cloud of our virtual lives, an object that represents all our dreams, all our desires, that keeps all our secrets. It is an artifact of the human spirit, of our global society. Nevertheless, why aren’t server farms celebrated as the cradle and guardian of human intellectual outcomes?

Twenty years ago the Internet used zero percent of human energy consumption today the digital economy uses 10% of the world´s total electricity. This research project declares datacenters to be the “churches” of the digital society and proposes a new type of a publicly accessible data center. By uncovering these ordinarily inaccessible spaces, we have the opportunity to physically interact with the essential infrastructures they virtually engage on a daily basis. The utopistic project is sited in Silicon Valley, a suburbia condition where there´s no clear architectural identity just an extent of un-designed company´s offices.
