The Reasons Offsite
The Reasons Offsite
- Site-specific cases
Offsite architecture is hardly a new subject, so why is it important to revisit it right now? For two reasons: the occurring high demand of habitats in cities and the growing need for speed and cost restrains pressured by an accelerated and global society, which satisfies its hunger for immediacy every day through the products and services of companies like IKEA, Uber or Airbnb.
These two reasons have one thing in common: they both call for pragmatism and optimization of time and physical resources. These requirements are also the main struggles of offsite architecture, which seems to be a potential architectural answer for this challenge.
This exhibition presents a historical, prospective and provocative analysis on this topic, displayed in a virtual reality environment, creating a multi-sensory and interactive experience.
Finally, the most important impact: this project, by its accessible medium, has the power to pull in non-professional audience into the architectural field.
