Arh Kolektiv is an architectural practice based in Split, with 3 fellow architects, 1 civil engineer & a number of regular collaborators. The practice is oriented towards research and action in the realms of contemporary architecture and spatial planning. The developed workshop methodology is capable of responding efficiently to different project scales, the dynamic variety of interests that define new global and local, cultural and technological landscape of today.

Architects are a privileged group who have the tools and in-your-face methods for upcycling the existing built environment and future architecture should be the materialization of the responsibility to do so.

Misconceptions about growth materialized in oversized/underused built environment result in dystopian scenarios, especially in the areas with stationary economic programs such as tourism. Making those areas more versatile and therefore more resilient lies in rediscovering & reinterpreting the set of basic functions of a settlement and implementing the missing physical, social and economical layers in an existing environment. Coexistence & cooperation of people, programs, natural and built environment can be supported or even induced with all-scales architectural interventions, but rurban regeneration, in order to be successful, should be founded on a solid, clear political idea of future development. Since it is quite obvious that we can not expect the top-down political solutions, at least not on time, future architecture slides into the sector of community based concepts set to fill the gaps and to help in forming the political idea by presenting possibilities in real time & space.
